Nature near Quito

PAPALLACTA 

This is a lake located 67 kilometers east from Quito at 3180 meters above sea level. You can get there by bus or by car; it'll take around one hour and a half and the road is good and safe - great views for great pictures.

The origin of the name comes from kichwa (language) - papa means potato and llacta means land, so Papallacta means the land of potatoes. The lake is near a small village alsa named Papallacta. 

There are some places to visit there in Papallacta. Hungry? small restaurants and places will offer you food from the area: corn, meat and of course potatoes. You can also go to a Spa where you can get massages and treatments for your body... simply awesome; pools with natural hot water, walk around nature along paths or just relax and enjoy the beauty of the place. Don't forget to bring some warm clothes.

I just stayed one night in the place, but I think it was enough for us (my wife and me) to renew energies and keep going.
